Centre of competence for the circular economy
The Stiftung GRS Batterien (GRS Batteries Foundation) is a non-profit-making centre of competence for Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and the circular economy. It develops and implements sustainable take-back and recycling solutions for the battery industry that are tailored to future customer needs. These are based on intensive research and development.

GRS Batterien assumes the entire responsibility for the product
As a result of the non-competitive, non-profit-making and non-discriminatory take-back scheme of Stiftung GRS Batterien, the producers, distributors and suppliers fulfil their complete product responsibility in accordance with the German Battery Act (BattG).

GRS Batterien has laid the groundwork for the future of battery take-back
A major goal and purpose of Stiftung GRS Batterien is to sustainably improve the circular economy, increase the circularity and continually promote sustainable Extended Producer Responsibility. To this end, Stiftung GRS Batterien undertakes intensive research and development, acts as an advisor and think tank, and works constantly on providing comprehensive communication in order to promote battery take-back.
GRS Batterien provides information on the correct disposal of batteries and rechargeable batteries
GRS Service GmbH and Stiftung GRS Batterien have joined forces with three other take-back schemes to inform consumers* about the correct disposal in accordance with Section 18 of the German Battery Act (BattG), providing information on the reason for and purpose of the separate collection of waste batteries as well as the take-back schemes and collection points that have been set up. A logo was designed specifically for the battery collection points, and a website was launched for communicating with consumers entitled Batterie-zurück (battery take-back), which provides in-depth information for the general public about the take-back scheme.
Information on the take-back of batteries, recycling, etc. is on the website and on social media channels (Instagram and LinkedIn). Besides interesting facts concerning the world of batteries, topics such as recycling, sustainability and the circular economy are also addressed. The extensive Material Box provides lots of free and useful downloads to use for your own communication initiatives.
